Cave Rock Trail Head

How To Get To The Cave Rock Trail Head?

Tahoe Cave Rock is located in Glenbrook, NV. Coming from South Lake Tahoe on Highway 50 you will approach the Cave Rock tunnel. Before you hit the tunnel, take the last exit to the right onto Cave Rock Drive. There is a stone sign at the corner that says “Cave Rock Estates Lake Tahoe“.

Go up the road for a short 0.2 miles and then you will see the tiny parking lot in front of the Cave Rock trailhead.

Parking

The parking lot is tiny, there are only about three parking spots. The rest is a fire lane and blocked off. We strongly suggest not to park in the fire lane as you will get fined and towed.

The good news is, there is additional free space for parking on the side of the road just around the hairpin curve across from the parking lot. Make sure to only park where it is allowed.

Cave Rock Trail

The trail is pretty straightforward and easy. The roundtrip to the base of Cave Rock from the trailhead is only 0.8 miles and the incline is not very steep. Cave Rock hike is probably the easiest and shortest hike around Lake Tahoe.

Once you reach Cave Rock there is a little view platform overlooking Highway 50 and Cave Rock State Park to the South.

From the other side, you have a nice view overlooking the North-East shore of Lake Tahoe.

If you are up for it, you can rock climb even further up to the top of Cave Rock but this is not for everyone and should only be done with lots of caution.
