Lake Tahoe, our favorite ski destination in North America

Our absolute favorite place to go skiing in North America is Lake Tahoe. As California residents, we may be a bit biased but Tahoe just has the most insane lake views and that directly from the slopes! That’s pretty hard to beat!

You’ll find these amazing lake views in South Lake Tahoe at Heavenly Ski Resort, Homewood Mountain, and Diamond Peak in the North of Lake Tahoe.

Vail, Colorado
Skiing In The US With A European Touch

German Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer at Vail Village Colorado
Vail, North America ski destination like in the Alps in Europe

Our second favorite place to go skiing in North America is Vail. Not only has Vail amazing and vast terrain it also has a Bavaria inspired ski village. As a German, Julia loves this, of course.

With its Alpine-style houses and restaurants, Vail Village reminds of an alpine ski town in Bavaria. So when you can’t or don’t want to travel to Europe but still want that European alpine ski feeling, go to Vail! We love it!

Whistler, Canada

Spending A Weekend At Whistler Village & Skiing Whistler Blackcomb
Whistler, skiing in North America where once the Olympics took place

With 37 lifts and over 200 marked runs, Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America.

The Whistler Blackcomb ski resort is a merger of formerly two separate and rivaling ski resorts, Whistler and Blackcomb resort. The famous peak 2 peak gondola connects the two side by side mountain tops. The gondola ride is pretty epic and a bit scary, dangling high up between two mountains.

Whistler Blackcomb hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. You will find the iconic statues of Ilanaaq, the mascot of the 2010 Olympics, located on viewpoints across the mountain tops of Whistler Blackcomb.

We can absolutely recommend Whistler, if you are looking into skiing in Canada.
