Summer weather in Mexico, in general, can get pretty hot, not just at the beach towns. I remember temperatures reaching over 44 C / 110 F during the high summer months when I lived in Monterrey, Mexico.

However, many tourist destinations in Mexico, like Mexico City, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, are located on higher altitudes. This means the weather, while not reaching those extreme temperatures, will still get nice and warm in the Spring and Summer.

Therefore, in general, it’s a safe choice to wear summery clothes in Mexico during the late Spring and Summer months.

One thing, though, don’t be confused when you see local Mexicans wear long pants and jeans during hot and humid temperatures while you are absolutely breaking a sweat. As a tourist visiting Mexico only for a short period of time, this is most likely something that is totally unbelievable and unachievable for you. Even after living in Mexico for months I wasn’t able to and adjusted enough to wear long jeans in the hot summer months. Mexicans are simply adjusted differently to those temperatures than any tourist can ever be.

When visiting Mexico City or one of the picturesque towns like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, or Oaxaca, we recommend wearing summery and light clothing for Mexico when visiting in the summer.
